He is a Fellow of the Anatomical Society, a tutor in Anatomy at Balliol College, Oxford, and a College Assessor at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Tom is also a prolific author and medico-legal expert. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has authored more than ten books and mini-guides, spanning shoulder surgery, musculoskeletal practice, and career development within surgery.
